Purpose of changing clothes into night gown in hospital?

Okay so i’m having an ear operation to plug up a small hole located in which ever ear, and the doctor reccommended the Fat Graph operation to plug in the ear, which will be perfectly safe, i believe.

The operation is at 12pm noon tomorrow, and the only thing i’m not so fond of is the idea of the night gown, from a previous operation, and when your around the age of 15 and over, you probably would have a strong reaction to a bunch of male doctors and female nurses looking up your butt.

Just wondering why hospital gowns don’t cover the butt area, and why they make you wear one. I’m pretty sure that one of the main reasons is for sterilization and germs. They should allow you to take a clean, shower, instead.

Any opinions/ and strong answers to this?
The surgery is about 15 minutes, and considering anthesia normally wears off in about another 15-20 minutes…
